Hummingbird - Yanfolila, SW Mali - May 2015

Sprott geologist/analyst, Andrew Jackson, visited Hummingbird's Yanfolila deposit in SW Mali on 14-15 May, 2015.  Hummingbird acquired the advanced project from Goldfields in June 2014.

At the time of the site visit, the project had resources of 1.8 Moz @ 2.8 g/t Au.  It was in the process of optimizing the mining plan to focus on the Komana West and Komana East deposits, and leaving the Sanioumale E, Sanioumale W and Gonka deposits on the shelf until later in the mine life.  Construction of the mill had just begun.

The Yanfolila deposits are typical Birimian shear zone hosted gold deposits, located in a greenstone belt in the extreme SW of Mali.  Access is via paved and gravel roads from the capital, Bamako.  The drive currently takes ~5 hours, but will be reduced with the upgrading of the gravel portions by Hummingbird.
