Birimian Gold and Randgold - Morila, S Mali - Dec 2013

In December 2013, Andrew Jackson visited Randgold's Morila mine in southern Mali and the surrounding licenses that belong to Birimian Gold, an Australian junior explorer.  Morila's open pit is almost exhausted and Birimian is exploring the surrounding licenses for satellite deposits, with the strategy of selling them to Randgold, to stave off the closing of the Morila hard rock mill circuit. Randgold is supporting Birimian's efforts with data and some logistics. Birimian has defined one resource so far; it is small, but the economic threshhold for a 'minex' type project like this is far lower than for a stand-alone.
